Ranchi, May 12, 2023: The Ranchi Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (RCHRC), set up by Tata Trusts, was today inaugurated by Shri Hemant Soren, Chief Minister, Government of Jharkhand, in the presence of Shri Banna Gupta, Health Minister, Government of Jharkhand; Mr. Noel Tata, Trustee, Tata Trusts, and Vice Chairman, Tata Steel; Mr. Siddharth Sharma, CEO, Tata Trusts; Mr. T. V. Narendran, MD & CEO, Tata Steel, and other senior representatives of Tata Trusts and Tata Steel along with officers of the Government of Jharkhand. The hospital will be operated under the aegis of the Tata Cancer Care Foundation (TCCF) which also operates a hospital at Tirupati and an onco-pathology lab in Mumbai.
The core aim of the Tata Trusts’ Distributed Cancer Care Model, being implemented through TCCF, is to make world-class cancer treatment accessible and affordable to patients. Tata Trusts has, since 2017, been developing and augmenting cancer facilities across six states - Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
RCHRC employs state-of-the-art technologies, a well-equipped laboratory and diagnostics equipment including high-end CT and MRI Scanners, Digital Mammography machines as well as advanced Linear Accelerator and Brachytherapy machines to administer Radiotherapy. A trained team of medical experts has been inducted to deploy the services. RCHRC will provide access to 82 beds for patients in and around the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Noel Tata, stated, “Tata Trusts is working towards providing holistic care -- beginning before the diagnosis of the disease through to treatment. With this aim in mind, our teams have been working with the National Health Mission to build awareness, and also screen for early detection of cancer. With support from our committed healthcare teams, we work towards ensuring that probable cases of cancer identified during screenings are followed through for diagnosis, treatment, and post-recovery monitoring, thus ensuring continuity of care. Our aim is to help ease the region’s cancer burden and reverse the ratio of late diagnosis.”
A number of organisations including Tata Steel, Tata Capital, Voltas, Tata Communications and Exim Bank have collaborated with Tata Trusts in the setting up of the RCHRC. Pfizer has contributed towards outreach activities of Tata Cancer Care Foundation.
