RCHRC and ICAR-NISA organised a special awareness session to celebrate International Women’s Day

Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC) in association with ICAR- NISA organised an awareness session for women so that they can learn to prioritise their health and understand that a healthy woman is an empowered woman.

In the fast-paced routine of daily life and the stress of meeting deadlines, women seldom make time to prioritise their health. To emphasise that a healthy woman is an empowered woman, Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC) and ICAR-National Institute of Secondary Agriculture (ICAR-NISA) came together to celebrate International Women’s Day with an awareness programme exclusively for women.

Attended by 85 members of ICAR-NISA, the event highlighted the theme for this year, 'Inspire Inclusion', and underlined the imperative role of women in society. The event aimed to celebrate women's invaluable contributions and encourage them to prioritise their health with the right information.

The event was attended by esteemed guests such as Dr Abhijit Kar, Director, ICAR-NISA, Dr Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-IIAB and Dr Debabandya Mohapatra, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIAE. Dr Rajanigandha Tudu, Medical Oncologist from RCHRC, presided over the event as the Chief Guest. Dr Tudu delivered a poignant address emphasising the significance of women's health for societal well-being. She spoke about common cancers, their causes, risk factors, warning signs, prevention strategies, and the importance of regular screenings. The RCHRC team also introduced the audience to Tata Trusts’ Cancer Care Programme and the range of cancer care services available.  They also briefed about Know Your Health, a proactive health management initiative by the Tata Cancer Care Foundation and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The event concluded with Dr Abhijit Kar announcing a possible collaboration between ICAR-NISA and RCHRC. This would enable all ICAR employees to benefit from the Know Your Health programme and that the employees have access to essential healthcare information and resources to promote well-being and early detection of health issues.
