RCHRC observes World Health Day 2025

Raising Health & Cancer Awareness at IICM

On the occasion of World Health Day 2025, Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC Ranchi) conducted a comprehensive health and cancer awareness session for trainees and staff at the Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 110 attendees, including faculty and their families.

The event was graced by Dr Kamakshi Raman, Executive Director, along with Ataur Rahaman, Chief Manager (Civil), and Sudhir Kumar, Chief Manager (Mining), among other dignitaries from IICM.

The day began with an engaging presentation highlighting the Tata Trusts’ Cancer Care Programme. It was supplemented with RCHRC’s mission of providing affordable and accessible cancer care in Jharkhand, especially for beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat cancer treatment scheme.

Dr Manisha, Consultant – Palliative Medicine at RCHRC, led the awareness session. She emphasised the importance of early detection, proactive health management, and the growing impact of lifestyle diseases and cancer. Her talk focused on cancer symptoms, risk factors, timely diagnosis and the critical role of preventive healthcare in cancer management. She also addressed prevalent myths about cancer, helping participants better understand that effective treatment is possible with early intervention.

A special highlight of the event was the introduction of the ‘Know Your Health’ initiative by the Tata Cancer Care Foundation, aimed at empowering individuals through preventive healthcare practices and regular screenings.

Dr Raman felicitated Dr Manisha and Ms Priyadarshini Mathew from RCHRC in recognition of their contributions to the session. The IICM community expressed their heartfelt gratitude to RCHRC for delivering an informative session that simplified complex health topics, outlined the benefits of early cancer diagnosis in India and underscored the importance of lifestyle choices in disease prevention.

The session was widely appreciated by attendees, many of whom shared that they left with a deeper understanding of cancer prevention in India and a renewed commitment to regular health check-up awareness.
