Oncology experts shared knowledge on latest minimally invasive surgical techniques and therapeutic approaches in academic session attended by over 45 doctors
Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC), in association with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Ramgarh chapter, conducted an insightful academic session on the latest advancements in breast cancer treatment. The event, held in Ramgarh on May 31, 2024, also highlighted the prevalent data related to survival rates as well as delved into the quality of life of breast cancer patients. More than 45 doctors from Ramgarh representing varying clinical specialities attended the Continuing Medical Education (CME) session.
The session featured experts from RCHRC, who shared their insights on various aspects of breast cancer treatment. Dr Amitesh Anand, Consultant - Surgical Oncology, discussed the evolving paradigms in the approach to breast lumps and shared knowledge about the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques that enhance cosmetic outcomes while effectively treating the cancer.
Dr Mannavi Suman, Consultant - Medical Oncology, addressed the challenges and management of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), the most malignant sub-type with a notably poor prognosis. Her talk provided valuable guidance on modern therapeutic approaches to this aggressive cancer form.
The developments and updates in radiation therapy were highlighted by Dr Deepak Kumar, Consultant - Radiation Oncology. He spoke on the revolutionary progress in radiotherapy technology and treatment planning, which have notably enhanced the precision and effectiveness of breast cancer treatments.
Dr Thakur Mrityunjay Singh, Hon. Secretary, IMA Ramgarh, Dr Sudhir Arya, Vice-President, IMA Ramgarh and Dr Uday Shankar Shrivastava, Deputy Superintendent, Sadar Hospital, Ramgarh were among the dignitaries who attended the event. Dr Santvana Sharan, Co-chairperson, Mission Pink Health, thanked the RCHRC team for conducting the CME session on the important topic of breast cancer, given its increasing incidence among Indian women. The session offered valuable knowledge and was well-received by the participating doctors, contributing to the ongoing learnings and advances in breast cancer care.
